Johnson & Johnson said Friday it has started selling three prescription diabetes drugs and the blood thinner Xarelto on the TrumpRX website and the company’s own direct-to-consumer platform, JNJ Direct.
The three diabetes medications are sold under the brand names Invokamet, InvokametXR, and Invokana. The starting price for all three drugs is $225, a 62-percent discount from the original price of $1,795.
Xarelto’s starting price is $197, 68 percent off the original price of $611.
Johnson & Johnson told Reuters the deal stems from its January agreement with the Trump administration to avoid tariffs by lowering drug prices, increasing access to affordable prescriptions under Medicaid, and listing its products on TrumpRX, the platform designed to offer cash-paying customers discounted prices on name-brand medicines.
The New Jersey-based pharmaceutical giant had previously announced a $55 billion commitment to support research, production, and technology investments by early 2029, including the construction of a next-generation cell therapy manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania and a state-of-the-art drug-making facility in North Carolina.
On Thursday, the White House announced it had also reached a deal for Regeneron to begin selling its cholesterol drug, Praluent, on the government website for $225, down from $537.
Regeneron has also agreed to offer Otarmeni, its new gene therapy for a rare form of genetic deafness, at no cost to patients in the United States. The drug was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday.
