According to the 2026 barometer carried out by the Organic Agency, 35% of French people surveyed consume organic products at least once a week and 59% eat them at least once a month. For what ? For their health, they answer. Health is in fact their main driving force.
Thus, 74% of French people believe that organic products are better for their health. Is this true? Does organic food have more advantages than conventional food? Does eating organic reduce the risk of disease? And first of all, what exactly is organic? What requirements must it meet? Are all labels the same?
I am Aline Perraudin, editorial director of Santé magazine, and to answer all these questions, I speak with Denis Lairon, doctor in biochemistry, nutritionist and emeritus research director at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research. Denis Lairon is also the author of Eating healthy and sustainable, from our plate to the planet published by Quae editions.
