Flight attendant accidentally lands film role

Most flight attendants dream of a calm cabin, compliant passengers, and maybe one person who actually listens to the safety briefing. Los Angeles-based United Airlines flight attendant Tanya Hutchison dreamed of being in the safety video.

Instead, she ended up in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” according to People magazine.

Ms. Hutchison thought she was auditioning for a United Airlines safety demonstration video — the kind where people nod politely while pretending to listen. Then came the callback.

“I’m thinking I got the part in the safety video. I was thrilled,” she told a reporter. “And they said, ‘You’re going to be in a movie.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, what?!’”

Not just any movie, either.

She found herself acting alongside Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci, playing a flight attendant whose main job was to deliver the most dangerous sentence in aviation history to Miranda Priestly: “Sorry, no champagne in economy.”

As fans of the original film know, that should require its own emergency procedure.
