Whether you’re leading people or deploying AI agentsthe instinct is the same. Go faster. Automate more. Remove friction. Increase output.
There’s one critical thing to consider: Speed without clarity doesn’t create progress. It creates noise.
You can have teams working around the clock, or AI systems executing thousands of tasks per minute, and still end up exactly where you started. Even worse, you can end up further away from where you intended to go.
Speed is just energy. Without direction, it burns.
The illusion of alignment
In his book, The Decision Stack, Martin Eriksson, leadership coach, technology advisor, speaker, and trainer, explains why organizations can’t run at full speed.
Eriksson similarly penned an article that said, “For years, I’ve been making the case that most organizations don’t have an execution problem; they have an alignment problem.”
He’s right. Most organizations assume they’re aligned. You probably think yours is too.
