Only the best for Grok will do. Elon Musk’s AI company is looking to hire writers to train its Grok chatbot.
The job listing on LinkedIn is looking for highly skilled mid-to- senior level employees who have written for publications like the New York Times or BBC. In the role, the writing specialist “will evaluate, refine, and create elite-level writing in a variety of genres and formats to advance Grok’s capabilities in one or more Writing Specialty areas.”
xAI is looking for writing prowess both in fiction and non-fiction, with coverage in multiple areas such as screenwriting, technical writing, copywriting, grant writing, medical writing, and poetry writing. Responsibilities for the writers include advancing the AI’s writing proficiency and improving annotation and workflow tools for efficiency.
Musk’s search for talent comes as many tech giants are trying to perfect their artificial intelligence. For many companies, training is crucial, so AI can mimic workflows at a more efficient pace than humans, leading to infrastructure replacing employees.
Grok was first launched back in 2023 as a competing product to other Large Language Model chatbots by major AI companies like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Though it was originally only for premium members on X, the chatbot is now widely used on the platform and has added video and image generation as well.
“Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humor! A unique and fundamental advantage of Grok is that it has real-time knowledge of the world via the X platform. It will also answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems,” said the company in a press release.
Grok has found itself in multiple controversies since its launch. Back in 2025, the chatbot was using hate speech and was reportedly targeting users based on political affiliation. xAI later took down the posts and updated the chatbot to stop the occurrence. The company was also investigated by the European Union after tool was used to create nonconsensual sexual images of users.
