Amazon Is Officially in Business With Oprah Winfrey

Amazon and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment have officially signed a multi-year deal that will distribute The Oprah Podcast across Amazon services.

The tech giant stated that the deal will include the rights to The Oprah Winfrey Show library, and Oprah’s iconic franchises like Oprah’s Book Club and Oprah’s Favorite Things. The partnership could potentially integrate Oprah’s work further across Amazon. Wondery, a podcast network, will distribute the show to Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV Channels, and Audible.

“Hosting this podcast allows me to continue the work I feel called to do – opening the door for conversations that matter,” said Oprah Winfrey. “The kind of conversations that remind us we’re not alone, and invite us to see ourselves and one another more clearly. Expanding our reach globally is an opportunity I embrace, as we continue to connect through stories that invite new ways of seeing and, hopefully, deepen understanding.”

Starting in July, Winfrey will be pushing out twice-a-week video podcasts for the platforms. Oprah’s podcast will be joining a slate of other celebrity-based podcasts and shows on Amazon, such as Baby, This Is Keke Palmerand Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.

The podcast started by Winfrey back in 2024 amasses roughly one million views per episode. With a run-time of one hour, the show features weekly interviews with celebrities, authors, and influencers, and is set to stay in the same format under the Amazon deal. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Winfrey opened her own network back in 2011 at a 50-50 stake with the Discovery Network; by 2020, she was down to a minority 5% stake.
